Risk factors of uncontrolled symptoms using the standard dose of second-generation H1 -antihistamines in chronic spontaneous urticaria children

A standard dose of second-generation H1 -antihistamines is recommended as the first-line treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), previous studies have found that approximately 20-50% of CSU children fail to control their symptoms and required step-up treatments.

Level of interleukin-18 binding protein is significantly different in patients with anaphylaxis than urticaria

Acute urticaria is a common cutaneous disease encountered in children, while anaphylaxis can show cutaneous symptoms as well as systemic symptoms. One study found that urticaria tends to precede anaphylaxis, but studies on the different role of eosinophils and related cytokines in anaphylaxis and urticaria are lacking.

Efficacy of a newly developed cartoon video on dry powder inhaler technique: a multicenter study

One of the factors associated with uncontrolled pediatric asthma is inadequate delivery of inhaled medication to the lungs. Incorrect inhaler technique has been reported. We developed a 2-minute cartoon video instruction aiming to improve dry powder inhaler (DPI) technique.

Intermittent hypoxia in rat enhancing peritoneal membrane thickening through HIF-1α-induced cytokines in peritoneum

Due to the high prevalence of both obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) and end-stage renal disease (ESRD), the co-existence of both conditions in peritoneal dialysis is demonstrated. Because OSA-induced chronic intermittent hypoxia is well-known, the hypoxia might worsen peritoneal membrane.

Diet supplementation with commercial enzymatically-hydrolyzed egg white peptides ameliorates the severity of allergy in a mouse model of egg white allergy

Commercial spray-dried egg white (S-EW) is often used for oral immunotherapy (OIT). Peptifine® (PF), a commercial preparation of enzymatically-hydrolyzed egg white (EW) peptides, is considered safe OIT food.

Clinical characteristics and aspirin desensitization in Thai patients with a suggestive history of NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)-exacerbated respiratory disease (NERD) is characterized by the triad of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyp, asthma, and aspirin (ASA) or NSAID hypersensitivity. Previous study of NERD has rarely been reported in Asian population.

Decrease of spleen invariant natural killer T and natural killer cell numbers in Burkholderia thailandensis-infected C57BL/6 mice

Burkholderia thailandensis is a non-pathogenic bacterium that is closely related to B. pseudomallei. Invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells are innate lymphoid cells that play a role in bacterial infections; however the iNKT cells in B. thailandensis infections are still uncharacterized.

Prevalence of nasal carriage of Staphylococcus aureus in allergic rhinitis patients and healthy controls in Thailand

Staphylococcus aureus has been proposed as a disease modifier of allergic rhinitis (AR) severity. Although several studies have investigated the prevalence of nasal carriage of S. aureus in healthy controls and AR patients, data from Thailand is scarce.
