Does Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole prophylaxis induce myelosuppression in primary immune deficiency disease patients; A retrospective, 3 groups comparative study

The possible myelosuppression side effect of Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) on primary immune deficiency (PID) patients has not been established yet.

A double-blinded, randomized, split-side, vehicle-controlled study of the efficacy of cleanser containing Acanthus ebracteatus Vahl., Suregada multiflora, and Acacia concinna in patients with atopic dermatitis: A pilot study

Barrier repair therapy is the key management approach for both eczematous and non-lesional skin of atopic dermatitis. The use of appropriate cleansers to enhance skin hydration is an adjunctive treatment that increases topical drug penetration. Anti-inflammatory properties of various medicinal plants in tropical Asia have been reported.

A new index for distinguishing hypereosinophilic syndrome and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-negative eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis

It is difficult to differentiate between hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-negative eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA).

A pilot study into bosentan (Tracleer®) as an immunomodulating agent in patients with Behçet’s disease

Behçet’s disease (BD) is an auto-inflammatory vasculitis characterized by aphthous oro-genital ulcers, inflammatory skin changes and uveitis. Treatment is mainly immunosuppressive. Interestingly, elevated endotheline-1 (ET-1) levels suggest a possible beneficial effect of treatment with an ET-1 receptor antagonist.

Validation and reliability of the Thai version of the Food Allergy Quality of Life Questionnaire-Parent Form (FAQLQ-PF)

Food allergy has an impact on the quality of life of both patients and caregivers. It is, therefore, important to have a native language survey to evaluate health-related quality of life (HRQL) among food allergic children.

The effect of vitamin D add-on therapy on the improvement of quality of life and clinical symptoms of patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria

Chronic urticaria is a common distressing allergic skin disorder. Immune dysregulation, histamine release and mast cell degranulation are suggested as its underlying mechanisms.

Efficacy, patients’ perception, and cost of medication in allergic rhinitis with subcutaneous immunotherapy

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is the allergic inflammation of nasal mucosa. Treatment of AR includes pharmacotherapy and allergen immunotherapy. Subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) is indicated in inadequate disease control, patient’s preference, or impossible allergen avoidance. SCIT is an effective treatment but its cost is comparatively high. Efficacy, patient perception, and cost of medication are rarely explored in Asia.

Regional differences in the prevalence of oral allergy syndrome among Japanese children: A questionnaire-based survey

Oral allergy syndrome (OAS) is characterized by an immediate allergic reaction that mainly or partially affects the oral mucosa, pharynx, or lips, and it is usually caused by ingesting fresh fruits or vegetables. Most patients with OAS also have allergic rhinitis due to pollen. As allergic rhinitis is increasingly prevalent in the Japanese population and the age at disease development is decreasing, morbidity associated with OAS among the younger population is likely to increase. However, there is little information about the prevalence of this disease among Japanese children, specifically the influences of residency in regions with different environments.

MicroRNA-21 in plasma exosome, but not from whole plasma, as a biomarker for the severe interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA) in post-renal transplantation

Non-invasive diagnosis of interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA), a major cause of chronic allograft dysfunction in post-kidney transplantation (post-KT), is needed.
