Regional differences in the prevalence of oral allergy syndrome among Japanese children: A questionnaire-based survey

Oral allergy syndrome (OAS) is characterized by an immediate allergic reaction that mainly or partially affects the oral mucosa, pharynx, or lips, and it is usually caused by ingesting fresh fruits or vegetables. Most patients with OAS also have allergic rhinitis due to pollen. As allergic rhinitis is increasingly prevalent in the Japanese population and the age at disease development is decreasing, morbidity associated with OAS among the younger population is likely to increase. However, there is little information about the prevalence of this disease among Japanese children, specifically the influences of residency in regions with different environments.

MicroRNA-21 in plasma exosome, but not from whole plasma, as a biomarker for the severe interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA) in post-renal transplantation

Non-invasive diagnosis of interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IF/TA), a major cause of chronic allograft dysfunction in post-kidney transplantation (post-KT), is needed.

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial on the effect of intranasal corticosteroid as a treatment for moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea with coexisting chronic rhinitis

Chronic rhinitis is a common co-existing disease with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Current evidence on intranasal steroid efficacy as a treatment modality is scarce.

A new trend in sensitization to cockroach allergen: A cross-sectional study of indoor allergens and food allergens in the inland region of Southwest China

Despite the increasing prevalence of allergic disease, large-scale studies to investigate allergen sensitization have rarely been conducted in the inland region of Southwest China.

Distinct effects of different adjuvants in the mouse model of allergic airway inflammation

Allergic asthma was typically considered as an inflammatory disease mediated by type 2 immunity. However, recent studies revealed that asthma is a complex disease displaying a variety of phenotypes and endotypes.

Epoetin-alfa induced pruritic maculopapular eruption: Case report and literature review

Erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESA) are commonly used in clinical practice to improve anaemia. Despite a number of patients successfully treated without adverse events, the complications have been previously reported.

Effect of inhaled corticosteroids on bone mineral density in patients with asthma

Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are a safe treatment for asthma. However, at higher doses, ICS use has been reported to inhibit adrenocortical function.

Incidence of urticaria, angioedema, and type I hypersensitivity reactions associated with fibrinolytic agents in Thailand using the database of the health product vigilance center

Besides hemorrhage, allergic reactions have also been observed in several clinical trials of fibrinolytic agents. These reactions might negatively affect patient outcomes, especially life-threatening type I hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis. However, there are limited data on the incidence of these reactions.
